Hasami Cup/Bowl - Natural

Hasami Cup/Bowl - Natural

Simple and unadorned, the pure, clean lines of these Hasami Porcelain pieces evoke Japan’s traditional forms, emphasizing beauty and innovation.

Created from porcelain made from natural Amakusa pottery stones mixed with potter's clay, the appeal of Hasami Porcelain lies in its textured feel on your lips and in your hands. These cups and bowls are much more sleek and refined than earthenware, yet compared to ordinary porcelain its texture is pleasantly organic-feeling.

Hasami Porcelain was designed by Takuhiro Shinomoto of Tortoise Studios in Los Angeles. It is manufactured in Hasami, a small historic Japanese town located in the Nagasaki prefecture, where porcelain has been crafted since the Edo period for over 400 years ago. Due to the traditional craftsmanship that goes into producing Hasami Porcelain, variations in colour and texture may be present and adds to the uniqueness of each piece.
